Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit with opening act Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge play a concert under the stars at Beech Mountain Resort.
Isbell is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has enjoyed much success in the music industry, first as a member of the Drive-By Truckers, then as a stand-alone artist and now as front man for the 400 Unit. The band’s music combines elements of Americana, southern rock, punk, country, blues, and folk.
Isbell’s 2013 album, “Southeastern” was named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time, and his 2015 album, “Something More Than Free,” simultaneously debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Magazine’s rock, folk and country charts.
Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge is led by an 18-year-old guitar virtuoso on a meteoric rise following the success of her debut album, “Wine On Venus.” Bowers cut her teeth playing dive bars, inspired by the blues of B.B. King as well as the soulful funk of Sly and the Family Stone. Her breakout moment came when social media videos of her playing guitar went viral during the pandemic. She has since become one of the most in-demand and celebrated young guitarists in the world.
Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge are scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at 8:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day, six live shows will be spread across two smaller venues at Beech Mountain Resort. Those artists are: Boy Named Banjo, Susto Stringband, Ashes & Arrows, Holler Choir, Adrian + Meredith and The Ain’t Sisters.
All of these July 18 shows are part of the larger Party on the Mountain Weekend at Beech Mountain Resort. For full details and ticket prices, click here. A variety of lodging options in Banner Elk are available here.
