A Small Town Christmas continues on Saturday, Dec. 7. The day begins with a Holiday 5K race at 8:30 a.m. Next up enjoy breakfast with Santa at 8:30 a.m. at Lees-McRae College. From there, it’s an easy walk to activities occurring throughout town. Those activities range from ornament making for kids, a holiday market, story time with Santa and a community carol sing.
Meanwhile, Christmas tours are available at Apple Hill Alpaca Farm and shopping options are plentiful in this walkabout town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Evening festivities begin at dusk with a fun-filled Christmas Parade on Main Street.
As the sun sets, the focus turns to the front lawn of the Historic Banner Elk School, where darkness falls and mini-train rides weave through the luminaries, along with holiday lights. As always, Mrs. Claus and Santa will make sure every kid gets a chance to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas wish list.
Sunday includes visits to choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms, including Elk River Evergreens, which provides the official town tree in Banner Elk. Sunday is also a great day for taking a tour of Apple Hill Alpaca Farm or enjoying the encore weekend performance of Ensemble Stage’s annual Christmas variety show.
